Still trying to get my awp aim back. Counterstrike is one of the hardest games to snipe in IMO and the latest version, Global Offensive is the weirdest in the series. It isn't like riding a bicycle - if you don't use it, you'll lose it. Aim, rythmn, timing - everything has to synch just to connect that 1 bullet.

There's a prevailing belief that lag in CS is intolerable. Apparently 200ms ping in other games is not the same as 200ms lag in CS. Upside to being Asian playing from Asia is that - I really don't see the difference anymore after all these years lol. Lag is lag and if you can't cope, you can't play online where the majority of servers are in EU and US.

Here's a short 'what it's like' video from my POV.

Shaking off almost a year's worth of rust in a 270ms Ping game. It isn't as bad as ppl think it is and overly noticeable in this video coz I'm AWP'ing. With rifles it isn't as intrusive. eg - say enemies die on your first shot but death animation will only show it on the 9th bullet in your spray. So you end up wasting more ammo and getting delayed feedback. 99% of the time it's not game breaking.

What you cannot do with high ping is posting down lanes. Coz you see people on your screen almost half a second after they have actually come out and seen you first. But even then, you can work the angles here and there in this or that map to compensate.

1v1 face to face shootouts is weird. Netcode is both fair and unfair. When 2 combatants shoot each other the server will try to resolve hit-miss for both players. In this case lower ping is penalized coz he has to wait for the high ping results.

But not when it comes to running behind cover. If someone fires at you, the server will trace it from the victim back to the shooter to determine if it was a legal shot. If you made it behind cover, the shot will not count even if the shooter saw he scored a hit from his end. In this case the netcode favours the lower ping player.

This is what's missing in BeGone where the trace is done from the shooter to victim so you get weird events like dying behind cover etc.

Downside to this method is you can die by invisible bullets. Bullet sprays and tracers you see are not the ones being counted. So if you use those as indicators on when to peek or pop out, you may end up being rudely killed. Basically, bullets used to calculate is theirs, relative position used to calc is yours. There is a discontinuity there which we HPB'ers quickly learn to recognize.

That game was fun but there was to many Bots then real players.

Kine, I think you have very stable internet. I remember in BeGone that you lagged a lot less with a 175 ping than other people with 80-90 ping.

I'll upload a bunch of Warframe videos at the end of the weekend.

Feels like time wasted editing - uploading vids when I should be farming for spare parts and blueprints.

And we're a bunch of nubs running around the maps lost and confused half the time. Still waiting to get a mission done pro style to upload.

Finally - a successful mission I felt the need to upload. Not exactly pro but we got the job done. Heartfelt thanks go out to my squad mates - Susliks, Toxicacion, Max Ranked Random Vhkay - it was an honor.

Warframe dev plans on replacing a popular farming mission with something new played on bigger and slower maps. They made an event out of the public beta test of this new mission type lasting one week ending this Tuesday. Finish past a certain score bracket and you get rewarded with a unique weapon + other stuff. Score to beat is 3,000 points.
