Re: Insurgency
Tried it back in August during a Steam free weekend and got angry at it after doing the tutorial. Left it to rot in my library until last week when I saw it got a big update.
Also noticed the explosion of Insurgency players following that update. Lurked around the forum and apparently people liked the improvements.
Bought the game and launched a random coop mission with randoms.
Surprisingly - I liked it. I LIKE IT ALOT. Like it so much I went and bought 3 extra copies. Gave one to Ricky.

- Spoiler:
- Controls similar to Tactical Intervention. Same crappy menus too.
Has PVP - COOP - Single player bot practise.
PVP is very much like old school Rainbow Six / Ghost Recon. Brutal and unforgiving. Slow and gritty real world small squad milsim.
COOP is similar to ARMA. Scenario versus scripted bots.
Nice thing about Insurgency coop is the squad size. Up to 8 players I believe which is a very nice change from L4D2-PayDay-Warframe's 4 man teams.

It looks pretty cool.

Re: Insurgency
Our first game together on some EU server. Night mission. Used night vision the first round which was awesome but video recorder didn't like it much so i lost the footage. Boty did extremely well in the next mission where I asked him to look for something easier. He went 70-10 while Kine did all he could to maintain a 30-30 kd lol. I had my excuses but not gonna give em.
Bonus PVP clip at the end. Some dude questioned what Kine could do for the team sniping at 300ms lag - telling me to go rifle instead. I replied back in the only way I knew how.

Re: Insurgency
That was Co-op which tends to play out slower because of the MilSim aficionados running it like spec ops.
PVP servers are very different mainly due to more CS:GO type players playing there. Less team work .. zero communication .. lets all rush left coordination. I did not find a single server where the quality of PVP was anywhere near Ghost Recon's.
That said - this game is a gem even in PVP. Specifically the environment. Really does feel like you're there down on the field thrust into ground combat. The crack and pop of bullets flying past your ear lobe - armour piercing rounds ricocheting around the room as insurgents try to demolish the wall you're hiding behind using machinegun fire. Dust, smoke, lighting, ground trembling under you feet as an RPG slams inches away from your face.
Same thing again as in Ghost Recon PVP. It isn't the reluctance to move on your part but rather hostiles pinning you down denying you from advancing. Action is in bursts alternating from you securing your advance and the adrenaline fueled push as you take the leap of faith into certain death and glory.
My first PVP match where I scored top fragger. Team lost consecutive rounds not because we particularly sucked but i suspect the other side actually employed real team work. First couple of minutes into the video you can see how effective suppressing fire can be where a single window camper was able to pin down 4-5 guys on my side from approaching the front of that building.
But once Kine gets to sneak past ...

Re: Insurgency
It is a pretty fun game to do, not as much heavily based on tacts/teamplay as i thought(hoped), just a thing for who has the fastest trigger finger/listening to the surroundings where the shooting happens.
Also not quite sure how it works (haven't tried it yet) if the voicechat works with Raidcall, instead of pressing K (or other button if you relocated it) to do the general/team chat.
Slight turn off: The loading screens are taking pretty long (around 2/3 minutes)((yes, it depends on people their ping/connection speed/processor etc etc)) But it really brings down the fun in a game if you finally are able to play, you're left with the random choices like sniper/heavy gunner/specialist, while the "good" spots are already taken, due to the loading time.. and that you need to wait the round out, since everyone else is playing already.
Had this issue now in multiple games like NS2 for instance, that it just turns the pleasure of a game down, since you're just.. missing a part that you could've meant something (.. or atleast have the idea that it would be the case).
Overal: Fun game, liking the different speccs for choosing the sniper that you get 2/3 sniper rifles available that you can choose or the Specialist that you can get a pick with assault rifles and the perks(sights/attachements) and the struggle with overal weight.
Bummer for the loading screens and random freezes/black screens(which could be my awesome hamster driven computer).
On a sidenote tho: If you were to have the same problem like me, that the loading screen is taking way too long, from what i've seen, the players will pick another map after every game.. so yeah.. not that great.
Do <3 tho: The game is just awesome with the ping differences. High ping vs low is just awesome playing without lagging.

Re: Insurgency
so that's what happened
everytime i joined your side you would switch to the other. thought you wanted JJ vs Kine everytime hahahaha
ye - i don't care so much about classes anymore. i now try to be pro on whatever weapon class i end up with. Only thing that won't work in this game is shotty.
so my choices normally are Support (which is awesome btw) - Sniper (which i can do) and some weird class like sapper (no clue wtf is that)
Voice chat works with raidcall. bind it to the same key or something different - up to you.

Re: Insurgency
Kill streaks using those weird classes. Sapper with MP40 submachinegun and another world war 2 era rifle as sniper.

Re: Insurgency
It's the same as in BeGone. He was too close to the wall his rifle was poking out thru cover so enemies on the other side knows exactly where to wallbang to kill him. And the world explodes into hell when people start focus firing on your position lol.
Here's what it's like in POV. I actually turned back to see if there was a Kine outline made up of bullet holes
I like the immersion in this game srsly.

Re: Insurgency
- Spoiler:
First time over 1,000 points ... and JJ had to go on the opposite team again ..
Re: Insurgency
Kine gifted me the game. Don't had much time to play it, but, the little I've played I liked it. the best is the inmersion of the game, as Kine said, you really think that you're inside a war. the gameplay style of the game is slow, because here with one or two shots you can die, teamplay is essecial if you want to win the game (you could be lucky and win the match without gameplay like i did but this happens rarely). Definitely it's a game that I recommend, and I hope to play with Creedlings soon

Re: Insurgency
paying $15 for a game is one quarter to half the price of buying full blown Black Ops for PC. A full functioning, heavily supported content that gets weekly (if not daily) updates. Just an observation I made while thinking about how much I've sunk into games.

Re: Insurgency
Hehe, can't help it if i ask which team to join (Attacking or Scouting) that they're on the opposite team of what they tell me.
On a sidenote tho: I've deinstalled the game due to the crashes etc.
Just like NS2, the fun (for me personally) isn't cutting it vs black screens/freezing or just missing out rounds.

Re: Insurgency
Vid took longer to upload then an elephant giving birth.
Same match as kine's first over 1000 points, my first pvp.
Kine pushing on the right side, me trying to keep up/doing the same.
Big server, no communication except for some primal screaming at the end of a round.

Re: Insurgency
Looking at that gameplay it is hard for me to picture you having fun at all during the match. Seems like you didn't know where enemies were coming from, where they are going to and ultimately where the team needed you to be. I should apologize for abandoning you and if I recall correctly it was towards the end of the day for me and I had most probably switched off mentally and wanted to get in a few more kills before calling it a day.
Very first thing I did in Insurgency right after getting my keybinds and muscle memory developed was to memorize spawn sites for both teams. There are several game modes and each will alter spawn rules but only so slightly. Once you have spawn locations memorized your enjoyment with the game will increase.
Because then you can start to figure out where you needed to be at all times as a match progresses. Something that cannot be done unless you can visualize how the map traffic flows. The instant you can develop a mental picture of where enemies and friendlies are and where they want to go - coordination with the rest of the team becomes possible.
Before that happens however I would usually find out who are the top players on my team whenever I join a server and play their backup. Tailing them wherever they go. This also helps me figure out pacing and popular positions as I observe experienced players navigate maps.
Here is a game from that server I recommended earlier, CommunityPT Vilayer:
Coordination between team members did not simply materialize however. It took us about 45 minutes of playing and talking with each other before people started synching. Below is a 16 minute excerpt of what went on prior to that round above. Kine had to earn team respect before they started playing around me. Killstreaks at end of video.

Re: Insurgency
Nah, if i don't have fun playing , I stop.
First time PvP, first time on that map.
I was still figuring out stuff.
Did try to pinpoint their spawn and route best option i could think of was get shot and rember that possition. eventualy i'll construct the map in my head.
Didn't go too bad 4 a first time i think.
Went even better in a next match,(that i forgot to record) where i did a awesome 5x kill
i'll reconstructed it below

Re: Insurgency
yayaya ... except Kine was outside that building and didn't die from it. 5 others did though including JJ who proceeded to uninstall Insurgency from his library soon after.
I couldn't exact revenge on you because all them friggin snipers blocking the way.
