The thinking side of Dota > thinking side of Shooters. But you only get to see this in a team vs team PVP. Or at the very least a pre-made pair in pub games.
There are 3 lanes in Dota. Each one is an income stream. And both teams have access to that stream at the same time ie. on opposite ends.
In vs team PVP you'll be charged with manning one of those streams. To maximize your earnings and deny the enemy of the same. Inches away from opponents who were given similar instructions as you did, to dominate the lane and kick the other fkers out...
In that scenario - clicking stuff at the right time is the least of your worries.
Azh + Kine pairs up on the same lane this time. Normally Azh would play solo somewhere and Kine is left to fend for himself. This match we fought as a carry and support pair finally.
Our other carry went top lane while we took bottom and a weak beginner was solo mid. The pair opposite us on bottom was equally skilled so that made things interesting. We were actually losing the early game. Partly coz they meshed better as a pair and partly coz Azh wasn't performing. He didn't trust me to play his support maybe.
We synch'd better as time went by and started pulling off combos which was nice. The team was behind on farm and points going into the mid game before we began to push back, winning 2 crucial team fights. One of which was a decent ambush / counterpunch. The enemy couldn't break the momentum and we eventually snowballed the right way up the scoreboard.

The real problem that game was that one of there heroes is awful to lane against. He has an aoe around him that removes HP from you at a constant rate, which was why i was constsantly low :\

I was left to farm easy lane solo at game start for some reason. Hell Yea Moment 02
Finished the match second on frags with 10 kills and led assist at 18. As beginner support, Lich.

Recording software was acting up. Had to crop one side of the video and resize it to 480p.
1. Game launched with only 1 map. A small bay5 / warehouse type
2. Obviously the Cerberus Rocket Launcher does not belong here
3. Dozens of feedback topics have been flooding their forum as a result
4. In the meantime I'm sticking with deathmatch mode (Bloodlust)
- rocket spam is less frequent there since its harder to control / deny weapons
5. Here's Kine refraining from using the rocket in FFA. Payday2 Shotgun skills coming back to the fore again.

Apart from the Raven pistol, every weapon feels good. Projectile speeds for Sniper and Stingray will prolly get a buff when the bigger maps come out. They are too slow even for short range. I'm guessing ppl will whine about it later on.
Sadly, Foundation the launch day map is technically a 1v1 tournament map.
It's the sort of map Quake uses for its duel competitions. If you cram 8 people in there it's not going to be a fun game. Which is where I'm at atm. I'm done playing Toxikk until the other maps get released.
I'll still login daily for my fragging needs but the launch day map decision is truly a let down. Should've debut with the jungle one imo. Also notice severe lag issues with Toxikk. We don't die behind cover like in begone despite the higher speeds but the shot compensation is horrid. To a point where i feel there isn't any compensation in-fact.
Again, small spaces amplifies the problem. Will wait for bigger maps to get released before I no life this like I did with BeGone.
On a positive note - everything else they did was as promised. A Quake / UT remake. Weapons, map layout, movement are all spot on 1999.

Yep. Chose not to use the cerberus, went 6-18. Decided to spam it like everyone else, went 9-2 before everyone quit.

I like the look and feel, but can't realy comment on the gameplay as stated before.
1 small map , 16 people, plus a rocketlauncher. i'll join some more MP matches , just to see what the competition is like.

Only 3 out of 14 deaths were by Rocket Launcher. That isn't too bad. In all my matches, Cerberus kills me 2 in 3 deaths.

Found my stress free casual fun game while waiting for Toxikk to release the rest of their maps and game modes.
A free2play 4vs4 Van Helsing type third person class based combat between Humans and Vampires where teams take turns playing each side for 10 minutes in a match. Stay alive. Kill bad guys. Team who kills the most wins the match.
No capture points, no respawn strategies, no rocket spam, no grind, no items and builds, no frustration. Team work optional.

- The only negative point I can find with this game is the content wall. But you'd have to be a real dick to list that as a complaint for zero dollars spent in-game. Short story, you earn coins as you play that is used to unlock additional playstyle options. Either put in the time or take out your wallet to play content beyond what's offered in the beginning. Fair deal considering it doesn't take long to unlock those via the f2p way.

Before you shout vampires OP - what can puny mortals do against winged beasts of the undead, here's half a match in my first MVP game armed with a crossbow.

Apparently Nosgoth competes in ESL. My last session before this one was played with and against ESL tournament players. All I can say is, in that setting - the game is virtually unplayable by casuals. The stuff they pull - I actually die watching them do it coz I would literally stop for a second in awe before something swoops down and breaks my neck as punishment for being a spectator. One of the rounds I went 1 kill 12 deaths. Which sparked drama post game chat as they argued whether or not 200ms lag was acceptable. That fired me up and went hunting for the same dude over and over winning 4 of our 6 1v1 duels. Best score I managed against them was 6-6 leading the losing team.
Learnt alot from that session and applied some of what I picked up in a random pub match today.

Kine tried to carry the team. 50% of the kills made was me. Some nice nice 1v1 duel wins and one epic 2v1.

Golden rule of Nosgoth - Humans defend, Vampires attack.
You'll want to pick a defensible point as humans and setup a killbox on top of covering each other. Vampires rely on coordinated attacks as a unit to break up said defense.
Most of the time things fall apart easily in public matchups and that's assuming it happens in the first place. But once in a while, matchmaker would put together a great team that just gels.

Hunter's manual to killing vampires recommends Holy Water, Silver Bullets. Stake through the heart accompanied with garlic. Kine prefer explosives.

Bolas (from Spanish bola, "ball") is a throwing weapon made of weights on the ends of interconnected cords, designed to capture animals by entangling their legs.
Yes, vampires are animals. Kine hunts them down with Jedi like Bola skills.
Throwing these damned things isn't as easy as it looks. An arching trajectory and slow projectile speed means you literally have to predict the future in order to score a hit. But when you do - you'll feel you've made Quiqon Jinn proud.

Problem is i don't like the other characters to much (atm).
The big guy for me is like being charger in L4D the entire time :-)

Sigh - Enjoy your time in new recruit servers. It gets rough after level 15 and you're forced to play in open lobby.
It'll take the game an additional 60+ matches to properly rank you. Until then you sometimes get put into games with / versus eSports pros.
Re: characters - they all serve different functions. And everyone will have their own likes / dislikes. It's a matter of finding your playstyle. That said, the crossbow dude and the 2 starting vampires are pretty much bread and butter in every match. The other classes simply offer tactical options which takes some experimenting to understand how they work.
The first starting characters are actually my main ones. Hunter and Reaver.
Managed to peel myself away from Nosgoth long enough to try the patched Toxikk. ALOT less rocket spam. But still annoying when a pro gets his hands on one. I hate that map, can't wait for the rest to be released.
