Recruiting Tactics

To become a more prominent clan in CW, we need a clan-wide effort to draw in recruits. This thread can be used to offer up suggestions on what we can employ to boost the recruitment of quality players from CW. Here are a few to get us started:

1. Bump the clan ad on the Kong forums frequently. Those forums are what the BB was to BeGone.
2. Change your profile picture to the Creed logo. See this thread: https://creedarmy.forumotion.com/t580-kongregate-profile-pics
3. Try to interact in-game with clanless players. You never know where a conversation can lead.
4. Scout the CW Kong forum threads for people who make intelligent posts and don't have a clan. I personally used to do this on NPlay. It was the first forum new players would post on, and BB clans looking down upon it meant that there were a few gems waiting to be unearthed. I recruited people like Bravo and Third this way.
5. Post advertisements in the Kong chatbox in-between matches. That's where new players chat for tips and info regarding the game. I use the following message: "Creed is looking for recruits. We're a close-knit gaming clan that recently expanded to Contract Wars. We're quickly on the rise, and are ranked 35 currently. To apply, visit us at creedarmy.forumotion.com"

No one and nothing becomes better by remaining stagnant. You need to work to get to the next level. There needs to be an honest effort put forth by everyone here if we ever wanna crack the top 10 in CW. Kine made a post that said someone needed to get the clan to move their asses. Let this be the start of that.

6. Mass-distributing invitations to apply. This means opening up a bunch of player profiles of people who play CW and sending them a copy/paste message that makes Creed an attractive clan and encourages them to apply. I figure we'll get a few more applications this way.

greatest obstacle to quality recruitment is our red tape.

there had been atleast 3 very skilled players we wanted and lost to other clans because other clans do not take days or weeks to decide on applicants.

our policy isn't necessarily bad but it did allow other clans to instantly snap up a good recruit the moment they find one while we 'linger'

suggestion I made in Council was to allow CW in-game officers to instantly accept potential recruits directly into our in-game clan. Lock them in with our clan tag first.

Then if Creed clan wants to deliberate on said player for weeks on end, by all means. Atleast we have him in already. And if generals / commanders voted no later on - kick him out in-game.

Secure prospects first
Vote on membership later

instead of the other way around.

Sounds like a good strategy, Em.

The "red tape" was created back when we had 10+ applicants a week and needed a way to select only the best. It's obsolete now. I'm not saying we should lower our standards, just make the process more palatable to our applicants and more streamlined for us.

situation in CW is unique

we could accept someone who has the skills but unknown personality into the in-game clan so he will wear our tag

it dont mean he has access to our forums

this way we can secure prospects while we take our time discussing his membership.

Actually, I'm the current leader of the CW clan on Kongregate though Kine can do everything I can since he's the lieutenant. I was thinking about revamping our clan ad on the Kong forums to appeal more to the CW community, including more information about our history and ideals(something like Em posted above) once I finish with my exams. BTW, for in-game messages and chat messages, there's a character limit and if you do chat often, people tend to ignore and/or mute you.

As for recruitment, from what I've seen, the best way for us to recruit on CW is to develop a presence on Kong Chat 1 where many of the better, more established players hang out. Recently I tried to recruit NVR4GET, one of the better CW players, but to no avail simply because Creed is not that well-known. Kine's videos have certainly helped, but they are not enough. Now that Third and Kine have stopped playing, the only in-game presences seem to be Reaper, FoxySD, and myself, three people. I propose that not only should we all change the profile pictures as recommended by Third, but we should also start hanging out in Chat 1 once in a while, and get to know some people there and perhaps attract some potential recruits with our awesomeness. Even if you can't play, or don't want to, go to Kong Chat 1 and acquaint yourself with the people that hang out there.

I try to be active in CW when I can, but it's hard for me. The only time when the internet isn't overworked in my dorm is early afternoon, and I never get back to my dorm until nighttime, when everyone's using it.

I play CW and log into RC everyday... but noone remembers me. Alas, I die inside. Wink

I was even invited into Figa yesterday however I said "No, I am Creed through and through".

I used to play a game (7 dragons) before it shut down, and I used a letter similar to the above one to recruit for my alliance.

It worked fairly well, but maybe you could personalize the "Hey there" to "Hey, (name)" or if they recently got a good achievement or somehow managed to whoop yer arse in game, be like "Congratulations on your (achievement) [Pro kill, w.e.] I noticed you're a formidable opponent in game (or great team mate) in game"

This is just what I did, and it's just a personal suggestion, but cool imo nontheless.

Good Idea, I log in everyday in Cw and try to play a bit, but, most of the times, I don't talk into the chat, so, it's hardly to recruit someone if you don't interact with nobody.

I don't know if we need to actively recruit so hard. If we're active and kicking butt in game, people will come to us. The big thing is they need to know about us and how to apply.

Bumpity bump. Free time galore right now. I'd like to post a new clan ad since Third is no longer the CW leader and can't update the current one. Any suggestions on anything to add to make it more 'appealing'?

Also, what do you guys think about taking applications on the CW forum, with RC still being a requirement of course?

This is a great way to get good players. Everyone needs to remember if they are asked how to contact us, to use the tiny.cc/creedarmy link... easy to remember, easy to type quickly at end of matches.

But the thing is, we're not the only clan to dominate. 1337, OhMy, SSNC, LeGcW,... the list goes on and these clans are significantly more active than we are. We're set apart by our standards for attitude and character, which can't really be shown in-game. So making a good impression with a great clan advertisement is the next best option.

Just another way to get us some traffic. See someone that plays well, and switches sides when teams are uneven, hit them up with a link.

So I spoke with p0wn0d today.

He told me that him and a few others are not happy in SSNC land.

I asked him IF he should choose to leave if he'd consider coming here.
A few names were tossed around... Him, Sprinkls, Gorath, LastBuletOfDeath

All are great great guys, and damn good players.

I think we should consider them now so IF they choose to leave, we can invite them right away.

make fast cw recruitments. If they are skilled and frienly- cw creed within 2 or 3 day. And as soon as we know them better we can add them as full creedlings. We need a more solid base at cw to be competitive, that's the reason why we should invite and kick (if necessary) fast at Cw.

I've only played with Sprinkls out of the list that Bubba gave, and I can attest to the fact that he's crazy good. We were on different teams in evac, but luckily we left each other alone and both bashed the crap out of each other's teams haha

I feel like we've had some decent randoms apply for Creed (level 59 +, w/ 2.0+ KDR) that we've had to blindly reject.

I've just updated our clan add to fit with CreedArmy.

I also answered a bunch of requests.
