Union fortified Seminary Ridge and Cemetery Hill while Kine starts West and North of the map. I did not get twice more cannons than the baddies like I expected for some reason. Instead, both sides started the day square on soldiers and arties with the added bonus that I had a bunch of mine in bad forward positions. The very difficult AI did the right thing and sacrificed a few of its' units to rout 40 of my batteries right off the bat.

Life is fair however as I got to spot Union's artillery locations early and saw the bulk of them bunched away from the frontlines. Did what the AI did to me and I committed non crucial brigades to delay their deployment. I think I managed to distract them the entire time possibly. This is where the video begins.

You've most likely heard and seen pictures of Warhammer's Space Marines but this video, shows you what they actually do.

The TRG used to have Chivalry nights once a week (I never joined in). After a few months, people started to hate the game, saying they'd never play it again. I'm not sure why. I'm curious to see if you have the same experience.

I bought and played Chivalry a long time ago when MND recommended it. I'm guessing your TRG comrades didn't appreciate the melee 'exploit' which I still find annoying to this day. Back then I had the 'if you're gonna play a game, play it pro' mentality and I estimated it'd take me 100 - 150 hours to gitgud at the exploit. Didn't want to invest that much time learning a casual game so I uninstalled it.

My current casual entertainment; Nosgoth, however has begun putting me in 10 - 20 minute queues consistently due to my rising player rating. 2 in 3 of which people end up rage quitting half way coz that's how they roll in Nosgoth. Rather than waste time staring at match lobbies waiting I decided to go ahead and pick up Chivalry again. Higher player count and server list instead of auto matchmade lobbies make it even more attractive to me now.

The melee exploit in Chivalry is the equivalent to BeGone's Third Person Camera bias. If you were a Counterstrike or COD player and discovered that quirk in BeGone you'd uninstall the game swearing never to load it up ever again. For some, the Third Person bias is just one of those things you learn to use and use it well. You either learn to love it or hate it.

Same with Chivalry's melee. In order to parry strikes in this game you have to look directly at the tip of your opponent's weapon. WASD controls your feet and Mouse twists your hips. What pros do is they will use the mouse to further tune their weapon swing animation making looking directly at their weapon's tip a real challenge. You could even contort your torso in such a way to mimic a Matrix style dodge by bending backwards as people swing inches above you.

Some consider it skill. Others, uninstall.

For me it's another set of skills to explore and master. I've had enough of honing reflex twitch accuracy to ungodly levels for the time being. My thirst for PVP blood however is still insatiable so ... FOR AGATHA !!!!



Notice how 3/4 of the time he doesn't even look at the opponent to either hit or block. Hit detection is really based on the actual weapon swing and good players maximize their hits or blocks by placing the weapon where they need them ahead of time instead of waiting for the swing to connect. Newer players like me have a hard time reading these moves because we're looking at the player models and not their weapons / shoulders thus making it really hard to visualize what's going to happen.

Devs say it is an intended mechanic and they've even updated the game with loading screen tips telling noobs about it etc. It's so you can pull off moves like these:

That dude literally had to swipe his mouse while executing an overhead swing to get that jump spin attack.

If you have spare time, I recommend watching this tutorial below. This is the legit way of playing the game while utilizing the 'exploit'.

With the launch of the Open Beta we have had overwhelming interest and have reached server capacity a couple of times which has caused issues with players being disconnected or failing to connect to game.
