Very few people can play the axe throwing Vanguard well and I'm not one of them. Usually finishing last on the scoreboard with negative KD, I make it a point to let my team know if I'm using the class at round start in case I end up being dead weight. This match turned out better than expected however. More luck than skill but I'll take it.
Re: ~- Videos -~
Been awhile since I last flew the Sentinel vampire. Never did show you guys how his max ranked skin looks like too. Still got the touch albeit a lil rusty.
Re: ~- Videos -~
No clue what it is about Nosgoth but chemistry between players matter. You can team up with good players and still lose if not enough of you could synch up. This match is not atypical of that phenomenon. Kine was on a team that gelled effortlessly versus one where our opponents did almost everything right and still got owned pretty badly.
Flew Sentinel in vamp round and Vanguard as human. MLG KDR finishing MVP.

This is not even 1% of what GTA-V is about. But already goddamn.
When I start driving the red car, take your eyes off the center of the screen and look at everything else but the car. The road, buildings, signs, traffic, trees, everything. Best way to appreciate the visuals.
Even without the next gen graphics, GTA-V is the best installment of the franchise. Especially how smooth the transition is as you go through the storyline without making the open world adventure theme feel staged. 6 hours into the game and I have yet to feel lost and confused not knowing what's next that happens sometimes in some of the previous GTA's. Number of distractions and 'bonus' quests are also very few and doesn't get in the way of moving forward with the story which I hated most in GTA3.
I'm not even close to starting the online multiplayer yet but already this game is proving to be better than expected. Lives up to the hype. $50 well spent.

Day in a life of my GTA dude.
He went back home one evening and found his wife and her tennis coach in the bedroom. In the next 1 hour of his life, my dude managed to demolish a house, kill 4 mexican gangsters, totaled 2 range rovers they were chasing him in, piss off their big time kingpin, owe said kingpin 2.5 million dollars who owned the wrongfully demolished house and he had only a few days to come up with the money. Failing which, bad things will inevitably ensue.
As an ex-crook under the witness protection program, there is only one way he knew how to come up with that much money in so little time. He called Lester. The brains behind his old crew back in the day. Cept, Lester wants my guy do him a favor first before he's willing to help. So I had to dress up as a hipster, infiltrate an IT company posing as an employee. Install a device on the CEO's prototype phone and call him while he unveils the new gadget on live television. Which my guy did. Turns out the device he installed was a micro bomb and unlucky CEO loses half his face and dies on national television. Live. Half face gone.
Anyways Lester later gave my guy 2 options on how to get that money. Score big breaking in the unbreakable vault of a reputable bank or loot jewelery store. Still rusty they decided on the jeweler. After casing the store for security and whatnot Lester came up with 2 ways of doing it. Go loud guns blazing old school style or doing it sneaky sneaky. Settled on sneaky sneaky ofcourse, still rusty. Plan is to gas the store during business hours. Grab the loot while everyone is unconscious and exit. All that's needed was a pest control van to disguise as and the actual gas to knock those people out unconscious. Which my guy had to go get after putting together a crew.
Oh and right before they were set to go on the heist, found out his daughter was on a boat about to star in a porn flick. So my dude had to play good guy before being the bad guy. 2 days in a life of GTA dude.

Rescuing daughter from porn baddies
Then be the bad guy to pay debt to an even badder guy
Re: ~- Videos -~
Watch these using Chrome or Safari. Youtube now officially supports proper HD streams. Videos were uploaded at 60Hz bluray bitrate HD. Difference is visible. Feature unavailable on most other browsers atm.
Re: ~- Videos -~

I use the optimize option but game still changes the settings when I launch GTA-V. Latest drivers solved my blinking shadows issue but suffer video stutter during night driving when too many lights are on screen. Other than that game runs perfect. Trying to figure out video processing settings for best upload quality. Game is so much prettier than what Youtube can show.

Re: ~- Videos -~
Looking for correct encoder settings to get rid of the blockiness where light hits dark spots like the night sky or dashboard. Best effort so far though. Again use Chrome or Safari to take advantage of better HD version on Youtube. If using a different browser and it doesn't say 720p60HD in the drop down box then that browser isn't supported.
Video shows off the almost photorealistic visuals in Grand Theft Auto 5

Been trying out all graphic settings, think i'll stick with this one
All set on very high except texture quality = set to normal
high eats up 1 Gb extra from my nvidia for some reason.
specs:
CPU = i5-4670K 3,40 gh
Mobo = ASUS H87M-PLUS
Drive = ATA WDC WD10EZEX-00B SCSI Disk Device (1000,20 GB)
Mem = 8 GBb Kingston
GPU = NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB
daytime drive
Drug lab with night drive

Hi Res textures on 1080 resolution eats up GPU RAM. Catch 22 is you NEED to use Very High texture detail when playing at 1080 because you can see things better at higher screen resolution. I suggest setting Texture Detail to max and sacrifice the others to stay within video memory limits.
Start by reducing the following in order of least importance:
'Extended Shadows Distance'
'Extended Distance Scaling'
Grass Quality
Particles Quality
Water Quality
Reflection Quality
Shader and Texture Quality must be set at Max
As for stuttering, this is due to processing power of your graphics card.
first thing to go is 'Post Processing FX'. This what makes the game pretty. Unfortunately there isn't a custom list you can choose from. It's either on or off. Your call. I suggest turning it off and see how much it helps.
second thing to go is anisotropic filtering level. It eats both memory and processing power. This is what makes far away scenery look pretty. Drop it as low as you deem fit. You'll gain some memory space back again if you do so you can go back and increase detail of items in the previous list above, starting from bottom up.
Grass Quality
Particles Quality
Water Quality
Reflection Quality
Start with Reflection as the game has alot of this working non stop everywhere.
Turn off anything that says MSAA - This is AMD technology and Nvidia card no like
NVIDIA TXAA = off. This is meant for Nvidia's top end card, Titan

After much research in a bid to share footage exactly as how I see them on my monitor I've come pretty darn close with this one. Interestingly Nvidia's latest graphics driver has a bug that allows me to override my monitor's max resolution of 1600x900 and go all the way up to 4k Ultra HD. For the first time since I got this gaming rig I'm able to record at 1080p.
Uncompressed video. If you have internet usage quota you might wanna skip this test clip. 20 Mbps bitrate will require you to pause the video and let it buffer for a bit if your internet speed isn't fast enough.

That's a bad landing. Not entirely my fault, I blame the wind. Here's an earlier visit to the building when I was scouting out the place. Took off at just the right time and caught the sunrise flying into the city. Nice view. Rest of video shows how seamless the game world is. Everything you see in the background while playing is an actual object you can go to. You can also locate your other playable characters and interact with them which I thought was awesome.
---
Side mission, the type that I detour away from the story ones to do. Flying. Sunset into night time. Reencoded into something more humble with minimal loss on quality. Took me a couple of days to finally settle on the video settings.
5 Mbps bitrate with some really funky settings bypassing post processing filters but looks almost just as good. 1/5 th the filesize but takes 4x video duration to encode. Got stuck fiddling with frame settings and choices of algorithms etc. etc. all of which without documentation. But I'm happy with the result without being a monster of a video.

Between me retiring from Eve Online and joining Creed I spent about a year playing Medieval 2 : Total War, a hybrid turn based grand strategy game that had real time large scale battles when armies clashed. Over a decade later, people still play Total War games thanks to a very strong and talented modding community constantly adding fresh content. One modder in particular stood out from the crowd and last year he finally made his own game using the Unity engine.
Ultimate General : Gettysburg
Been watching youtube gameplay vids for a couple of months prior while waiting for a Steam discount. Would've gotten it much earlier if I had known it was made by some of the best Total War modders. Well it's in my library now and am I not disappointed.
Well thought out command and control UI, fresh alternative game mechanics and as expected from these guys - the BEST AI of any strategy game out there in the market. Recurring theme and comments in both user and professional reviewers alike were how well the AI does without needing to cheat on stats or perfect knowledge of location and human player status.
Another nice surprise is how this game is only about Gettysburg yet still having large amounts of replayability. You can play as either side of the American Civil War with the campaign itself broken into each day of the battle. How you start the next day depends on how the previous one ended with each individual military unit carrying over. So if you routed all the enemy's cavalry on day one, you wont have to deal with them on the second day etc. Geographical locations armies hold at the end of each day's phases also affect how the next one begins. But most interesting of all for me is how the game isn't about numerical advantage per se. In almost all strategy games army size serves as a baseline on the outcomes of an engagement. Not so in UG:G. I haven't seen a combat unit get totally wiped out yet where fights are back and forth affairs of exchanging shots, breaking down their resolve to hold their ground, regrouping and launching the next wave of volleys. The game is mainly about positioning and timing your assaults as well as keeping track the conditions of your men so you don't overextend tired men and only march fully rested units etc.
Edited out the long waiting to get into position bits. This is day two and could've won it as Confederates had I been able to cap the final objective at Cemetery Hill. Kept Pettigrew and 3 of his other brigades out of battle to keep them fresh for a final decisive charge on Union's last stand. I sent them in a few seconds too late so now I have to do a final showdown later tonight. About even on headcount but I have twice more artillery so it should be a walk in the park even against the most difficult AI.
Epic play by Confederate's 2nd Corps ninja capping a hill south of town. Those 3 brigades held off the bulk of Union's armies distracting them enough allowing me to steamroll through Gettysburg almost unopposed. 2nd Corp had to make a tactical retreat at one point but managed to retake the hill with reinforcements towards the end of the day. Hell yea moment if there is such a thing in this game.
